Pensacola, Florida
November 14, 2020

Mr. Thomas George Morton, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas G. and Mary E. Morton, and his brother Steven Morton. He is survived by his children, Barbara Ellen Morton and Robert Thomas Morton, as well as their mother, Mary Beth Morton, and his brothers Larry E. Morton and David A. Morton.

Mr. Morton was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 7, 1942. He graduated from Hall High School in Little Rock in 1960 and the University of Arkansas in 1964. He served as an officer in the United States Navy on active duty from 1964-1968. This was followed by time in the reserve during which he attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Mr. Morton graduated from the University of Florida College of Law in 1970. He began his professional career in Santa Rosa County, serving as city attorney for the Town of Jay, County Attorney for Santa Rosa County, as well as beginning his private practice, the Morton Law Center. The Morton Law Center eventually expanded to Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Tallahassee, and Orlando.

Mr. Morton cared about helping others, and it showed far beyond his many charitable contributions and engagements. The focus of his work was in areas of the law where he felt people truly needed help, such as bankruptcy, disability claims, workers’ compensation, and more. Mr. Morton gave legal advice rather freely and was quick to help anyone who came to him with a problem. He had many interests in life and the one he lived was rich and varied. He was beloved by his family and will be greatly missed.

A private service will be held for Mr. Morton’s family. The service will be available to view online at www.facebook.com/BayviewFisherPouChapel/live/
