Elaine Haltzman, 1942-2020

Destin, Florida

There is no obituary, but we have this from her daughter, Shana Jekels Harvey (posted to Facebook)

It’s with great sadness to share our mom, Nana, Mama Jomma, lost her short battle with cancer. She fought hard but it was bigger than her. Community Hospice took amazing care of her and she passed peacefully. Our hearts are broken but we find comfort knowing she’s no longer suffering.

Thursday night she had a little bit of energy and that twinkle in her eye I had missed seeing. I enjoyed hanging with her and being silly. I left hoping it was not the last hurrah people sometimes reference. Sadly, it was.

Our mom was a brilliant ballet choreographer. Talented beyond measure. And as a teacher she loved seeing her past students successes. If you were one of her students know she always remembered your name and always celebrated your accomplishments.

She loved her family, friends, the arts, her dog, Boots and all people. She taught me to love unconditionally and never to judge. You could tell her anything. I already miss her so much.

I will forever love you more, Mom.
