He was a shriner and a member of Al Chymia Shriner's Club of Memphis. He was a Mississippi River boat pilot.

He is survived by two brothers; David and Pam Beyer of Candler, North Carolina, and Dana and Debra Beyer of Boynton Beach, Florida; and one sister, Sue Holliday of Hazlehurst, Mississippi.

He is Buried in Memphis, Tennessee.
